What You’ll Be Doing
This position will perform data analysis tasks and support the development of data tools as part of project teams that serve clients with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other government agencies in the areas of drinking water protection, climate resilience, and surface water quality management. Primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): compiling environmental, demographic, and public health data and documenting data sources; data cleaning using R or Python; summarizing data and performing statistical analysis; performing geospatial analysis using ArcGIS software; developing data visualizations; and documenting analysis methods and findings.
The selected candidate will work in a team environment and will be responsible for completing assigned tasks at a high level of quality within timelines outlined by project managers. This position requires close attention to detail and creative thinking skills to identify and troubleshoot data-related issues. Successful applicants will be able to work independently with input and oversight from project team members, be able to manage assigned tasks and projects from start to finish, and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. The position will interact with clients and external federal, state, and local entities to gather data, discuss analytical approaches, present methods and results, and gather feedback.
This position can be based out of Cadmus’ offices in Arlington, VA; Bethesda, MD; Boston, MA; Waltham, MA; or Madison, WI. A fully remote position may be considered depending on candidate qualifications.

- Implement methods to clean, analyze, and store data using R.
- Complete analysis of raster and vector geospatial data using ArcGIS software and the Python programming language.
- Research and evaluate national, state, and local data sets for inclusion in water sector projects.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for viewing and analyzing water and climate related data, including developing ArcGIS Online or Power BI products.
- Develop metadata and appropriate data analysis documentation including methodologies.
- Provide quality control support when developing client deliverables.
- Provide strategic thinking in support of client initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, water resources management, geography, ecology, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in a consulting, government agency, or research position OR a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Advanced skills in R and Python for data cleaning and analyzing large and complex datasets.
- Experience working with raster and vector geospatial data using ArcPro software and ArcPy functions.
- Experience retrieving and analyzing large environmental data sets and geospatial data layers, such as climate, land use, demographic, ecological, hydrologic, or water sampling data.
- Familiarity with using ArcGIS Online, Power BI, or Shiny to develop interactive web-based tools and applications for visualizing data.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to apply quality control practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to be considered.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $60,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
