The Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Washington, DC is welcoming applications for the position of Director for its Global Development Policy Program. The program strives to ensure a global dialogue on a sustainable, democratic, equitable and human rights-based approach to development. Through workshops, study tours, research, coordinated policy work and publications, the program brings together policymakers and civil society organizations. It also aims to lift up the perspectives of marginalized people and communities in discussing solutions to issues of global economic development policy and governance. For example, the program currently works with civil society partners in Africa on how to develop strategies for an inclusive, values-based approach to digital connectivity; how to find a more coordinated approach to sustainable infrastructure in the context of the G7; and how to better align climate change goals and trade policy in Africa. Another key component of the program is the critical analysis of the impact of World Bank and IMF policies on the environment, social inclusion and human rights. The program also closely monitors the work of relevant UN organizations and other multilateral development institutions on topics that are in the program’s focus. In doing so, it collaborates with other programs in the DC office, with the headquarters of the foundation in Berlin, and with partners and other foundation offices around the world.
