Level: Senior (8 years minimum experience required, individual contributor)
Must-Have Experience: A bachelor’s degree or 8 years of equivalent work experience. In addition, this senior-level role required at least 8 years of work experience in journalism, public relations, crisis management, or communications including professional media relations experience for a large, complex organization or church in the US. Must include 3 years of risk or crisis communications experience. Direct work experience with journalists in national news organizations is required. Serve as a spiritual role model and facilitator of risk mitigation and consensus building within the context of highly sensitive work that requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders. Possess strong written communication, investigative and exhaustive research skills, sharp intuition, judgment, and analytical skills. Ability to influence decision-making and advise senior leaders on appropriate responses to complex humanitarian issues, program challenges, and organizational policies and being comfortable being a truth-teller to power in a way that demonstrates God’s love.
Salary Range: $82,632.63 – $131,997.59. Applies to locations with a market similar to our U.S. HQ in the Greater Seattle area. A different range may apply based on your work location. As Senior Public Relations Manager of Risk & Crisis Management, your expertise will be brought to bear on work that is close to the heart of God (in the spirit of Matthew 25:34-40). See yourself leading the thinking on issues that protect and strengthen the reputation of our storied 70+ year organization. Your focus will be centered around the most complex risk and communications issues facing our organization and the larger humanitarian development community today. Report to the Senior Director of Public Engagement and join our larger 9-person Public Engagement team bringing your sound judgment and seasoned public relations experience to lead business-critical communications functions for a diverse and challenging range of donor and partner trust topics.
As a strong fit for this role, you’ll gracefully work at a senior level and possess the gifts of working effectively in a matrixed global organization, a knack for building strong working relationships quickly, possess an extensive and ever-growing set of media relations and social media skills, including strong writing skills and a proven background successfully handling business-critical issues management scenarios, and strategic instincts balanced with a bias for action. See yourself working with key business leaders and frontline staff in and outside of our immediate team at World Vision USA as well as with our World Vision International global partnership to develop and execute messaging, communications strategies, and timely responses to complicated and changing news cycles. The role will have you regularly interacting with the media on fast-moving issues with complex narratives. Be inventive along the way. 03 What success looks like (1) You consistently demonstrate leadership to the organization by preparing for and managing issues with the potential to damage World Vision’s reputation with an emphasis on leading internal stakeholders to prevent or mitigate reputational risks. (2) You demonstrate deep knowledge of issues of special concern to key World Vision audiences, that is, donors, church partners, businesses who partner with us, foundations, the humanitarian relief and development community, media outlets, charity watchdogs, and our diverse staff both here in the US and around the world. (3) Able to respond quickly to reputation issues – which can develop any time of the day or night – to ensure frontline and senior staff are equipped with clear written materials. (4) You model exemplary integrity in your work as well as challenge and inspire the organization to do the same.

05 Salary Range & Benefits Your compensation and benefits are important to you so they’re important to us. $82,632.63 – $131,997.59. Applies to locations with a market similar to our U.S. HQ in the Greater Seattle area. A different range may apply based on your work location. The typical hiring range is $95,000 – $107,500. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity.
